Roof Pitch

The pitch of a roof is a significant factor to consider when designing a cold roof system.  Although it is siginifcant, it is also one of the easiest factors to understand.  The steeper the roof, the easier it is for the heat to rise below the roof deck, thus the easier it is to create a colder roof surface, when the roof is properly ventilated.

When we are dealing with low sloped roofs, it is much more important to have adequate insulation and ventilation in a cold roof system.  The flatter the roof, the harder it is to get the warmer air to rise and create a draw from the eave to ridge.  Our team has the ability to run computer models to test the roof system in a simulated environment to ensure that the cold roof system will create enough air flow to keep the roof surface cold during the winter months.
